1. Feed Content

They consist of still images, videos, and slide shows (carousels). You can upload any of this content or create it right on the Instagram app and it will be displayed on your Instagram account profile and your followers’ feed.

2. Reels

As per Instagram, this is where their focus will be going forward as short-form videos are very popular and platforms such as Tiktok have done well in this area. Instagram doesn't want to be left behind.

Businesses are increasingly using entertainment as a marketing tool and Reels are perfect content types to achieve that. Brands have embraced Instagram Reels and utilized it as a platform to introduce new items.

Any type of story can be shared through Reels, be it personal, emotional, or funny. Instagram also enables features to add music, while you can also add subtitles to make them impactful.

The maximum length of Instagram Reels is currently 60 seconds.

3. Stories

Instagram Stories is a feature on Instagram that appears at the top of the feed. They tend to gain a lot of attention, and you can post images, videos, and even links if you have more than 10k followers.

Stories get deleted by themselves in 24 hours from the feed. They allow users to create short, 15 second videos on the platform.

Instagram Stories allows you to interact with your followers in a variety of ways (polls, surveys, stickers, and so on), share something time-sensitive with them, and strengthen your connection with them in an inventive way.

4. Live

If you want to interact and converse with your followers in real-time, Instagram Live is the way to go. Provide your followers with an unaltered perfectly curated version of yourself or your brand.

You can save the Instagram live videos on your feed as IGTV, so that your audience and followers can look at it later as well.


Short form for Instagram TV, this feature has been out there for quite a while. The idea is to share content like TV episodes.

You can use this feature to share long-form videos on Instagram. You may add up to an hour-long long-form content to the feed, and it won't be deleted after 24 hours, unlike Instagram Stories.

If you have a longer video and want to expand your reach with curated videos, IGTV is ideal.

5. Guides

Instagram Guides are ideal for displaying curated, scrollable material. The new feature makes it easier to share and consume useful suggestions and tips in a digestible format.

Users can follow a pre-determined sequence of content with commentary, which is ideal for step-by-step instructions, guidelines, and suggestions.

Instagram initially provided the Guides feature for a select number of health and wellness advocates in order to provide assistance to those who are affected by the COVID-19 epidemic.
